- A tethered cable is one that is directly attached to the Tethered charge point.
- The cable is normally stored on or wrapped around the EV charger. This is the most popular option for convenience at home, ideal if you want a quick hook up.

- A Untethered cable disconnects from the EV charger socket. The cable is normally stored in your car and is the same one you would be able to use at a public EV charger however its more inconvenient.
- Another benefit would be if you were sharing your EV charger with another vehicle type with a different connection.
