Quick Guide to EV Chargers

Step 1 - Compare chargers

Tethered or Untethered charger?

Tethered

Untethered

Untethered

  • A tethered cable is one that is directly attached to the Tethered charge point.
  • The cable is normally stored on or wrapped around the EV charger. This is the most popular option for convenience at home, ideal if you want a quick hook up.

Untethered

Untethered

Untethered

  • A Untethered cable disconnects from the EV charger socket. The cable is normally stored in your car and is the same one you would be able to use at a public EV charger however its more inconvenient.
  • Another benefit would be if you were sharing your EV charger with another vehicle type with a different connection.

Tethered Pros

Untethered Pros

Untethered Pros

  • EASY
  • No manhandling cable when plugging and unplugging
  • Secure as the cable cannot be unattached
  • Can work out cheaper if no cable is supplied with your car

Untethered Pros

Untethered Pros

Untethered Pros

Tethered Vs Untethered Charger In-depth

Step 2 - Contactless, online site survey

  • This is the best way to get the ball rolling. Simply click “Online Site Survey.” Fill out the information and follow the step by step instructions.

  • This helps our engineers give you an honest and accurate quote. It’s free and means you can make an informed decision before paying.

  • We show you what photos we need and it should only take five minutes or so to complete.

  • We also use the photos to help us determine if you’re eligible for the Government OZEV Grant.

Step 3 - Charger Selection

Once the survey is complete we can make recommendation and advise on what chargers would be suitable for your budget and requirements.

We are approved installers for the many of the EV charger manufactures to gain the extend warranty.

Lead Time

Installation lead time varies depending on how busy we are and which charger you choose. Some products, such as the Andersen A2, are made to order and they can take longer.

Generally speaking, though, your charge point will be installed within 3-4 weeks
